Question Wednesday: The Cutting Room Floor

On January 2nd I put out a call for questions (in conjunction with a contest) and many of you asked some great ones! Every Wednesday (until I run out of questions), I’ll be answering them here! There may be ones that are related, so I’ll answer multiple questions at once. You can always add a new questions to the queue by posting them as a comment here.

Anastacia Kontz asks: When writing the Married with Zombies series, was there an idea that you loved for the series but didn’t make it in? If so, what was it?

I tend to pretty much get in what I want for my books, that’s the awesome thing about being a god in my own universe. Oh sorry, I wasn’t laughing maniacally and rubbing my hands together. Anyway, generally I do what I want. BUT there was one idea I just couldn’t find the best way to fit in.

I wanted The Cult of David. Once he had those “zombie benefits”, I loved the idea that when that got out, there would be a following that would develop around him. Worship him. And man how Monty Python would that have been? Hilarious!! Life of Brian-style running by Dave, annoyance by Sarah about the cute girl followers, it would have been so fun to write.

But I couldn’t find a way to fit it into the larger storyline of The Zombie Whisperer. So the Cult of David quietly goes on without Dave and Sarah knowing. Wait, that sounds creepy. Short story? I’ll think about it.
