Question Wednesday: Writing More Zombies

On January 2nd I put out a call for questions (in conjunction with a contest) and many of you asked some great ones! Every Wednesday (until I run out of questions), I’ll be answering them here! There may be ones that are related, so I’ll answer multiple questions at once. You can always add a new questions to the queue by posting them as a comment here.

Kelli McElreath asks:I was wondering, with all your short zombie stories will you ever develop them into books. There are several that stuck with me and I wish the story would continue. Like a series of books from the short stories even if they are not related to each other. Does that even makes sense.

Although I love the characters from the Living With the Dead short stories, I don’t think I’ll be writing at full-length novels for them. The short stories were always meant as a way to give a glimpse into what was going on in other parts of the Dave and Sarah universe. Lots of people wanted to know about other people, so this was a snapshot of their worlds as the shit went down or long after everything was over.

Some of those people you do see a bit more in The Zombie Whisperer so they do have a more complete story. But the answer for the others is likely no. As much as I love zombie stories, I’m going in different directions now and there would have to be a very compelling reason, either creatively or financially, to come back .
