Question Wednesday: Zombie Bra POWER!!!

On January 2nd I put out a call for questions (in conjunction with a contest) and many of you asked some great ones! Every Wednesday (until I run out of questions), I'll be answering them here! There may be ones that are related, so I'll answer multiple questions at once. You can always add a new questions to the queue by posting them as a comment here. Mona asks: My question for you is, if you have some special piece of clothing that enhances your creativity like a lucky bra or zombie-pumps Read more [...]

Thank you again for all the questions! There were some really good ones and my queue is filled up for quite a while for Question Wednesday, which will start next week. The winner of the copy of THE ZOMBIE WHISPERER (gifted as a Kindle or Nook copy when the book is released) will be..... Garine Avakian who asked: If zombies weren’t brain dead slobs, how would a family of four plus their extended family of zombies uncles, aunts, cousins and embarrassing relatives celebrate New Years? The Award for Tortillas Goes To…

Back in the summer, I was scanning around the universe (or at least my part of the universe) and started wondering... how do you get to be a speaker for the Pima County Library System? We live here now and we have a library really right down the road from us, so it seemed like the thing to do. After a little bit of searching, I came to the page for the Pima County Government and realized I would have to go through the procurement process. Basically it's how the county picks everything, from who installs Read more [...]

Give a Girl a Hand?

I'm an author. Shocking. I know you're all totally shocked. But seriously, I'm an author and lots of times all you lovely readers ask what you can do to see more books or sooner or how you can generally help me out. Which I love! So here is my compiled list of how reader can help out their favorite authors: 1. Buy the books. Duh. Pre-order them, buy them the first week. You can pre-order Club Monstrosity, for instance, at Amazon and Barnes and Noble . 2. And while you're pre-ordering, like Read more [...]

I Don’t Want to Be a Slutty Pumpkin

Halloween is fast approaching. As someone who writes sort of semi-spooky, definitely weird and (hopefully) funny fiction, it's a holiday I really love in theory. It's a day to pull out your geek and let it fly free. A day to put on whatever character you like and then... you get CANDY!!! So, yeah. I'm pretty happy with it. In theory. Because the thing is that in the past few years, okay the past decade or more, I feel like the awesome quality of Halloween has been swept away a little. Okay Read more [...]

Over the years, I've done a lot of interviews here and there around the interwebs and there's a few questions that always seem to come up. Where do you get your ideas (magic)? How do you get published (lots of crying and wailing, mostly)? And one is do you write with music? I love music, don't get me wrong. I love all kinds of music from classic rock to classical to ridiculous pop to rock and even some country (though not a lot). I sing in the shower and I think music would be something I miss Read more [...]

Back in Black

Actually, I'm wearing purple currently, so I guess... Back in Purple? Finally, some of my "real life" stuff has calmed down a little and I'm actually writing again. What am I writing? Well, no zombies this time, but something funny and different. Monsters. In New York. In a support group together. Who start getting killed the same way they did in their movies/books and have to figure out if they want to hide or be monsters. It's super fun to write and I hope you guys will like it. After that? Personal Day… week… maybe a month

Right now there is massive chaos in my personal life so I'm not going to be able to update the site right now or tweet and stuff. Consider this a personal day. In the mean time, I hope you'll pick up the new IN THE DEAD: Volume 1, which is available for Kindle and Nook now (and no, it won't be a real book. Please see my many posts on indie publishing before you ask me about it). Buy Kindle Buy Nook I'll try to get back online when I can and update everyone on everything. And I will be working Read more [...]

5 Favorite Childhood Things

I've been thinking a lot lately (obviously if you read last week's post) about stuff from my childhood. There were so many things that I just fell in love with and they helped to shape who I am as a person today. So here are 5 of my favorite childhood things: 5. The Chronicles of Narnia -- Fantasy/wardrobes/talking animals... oh and religious undercurrents (though I don't think I really caught on to those as a child). Awesomeness. I was so in love and wished I could go through a wardrobe, too, Read more [...]
